Les Rita Mitsoukos
C'est Comme Ca by Les Rita Mitsoukos in an early Jean-Baptiste Mondino clip. The video is from 1986 and wouldn't be out of place today.

Architecture in Helsinki
Steel drums have a high 'cheese' factor. Think Xmas carols in the subway or the tikki bar at any carribean resort. This song might be the exception to that rule. If only they could start playing in the subway and at carribean resorts...

Swimclub: Pop a gogo
How does a great pop song like All Alone end up with just 149 plays on Swimclub's MySpace page? 524 plays for Ready for Love? Half of those were mine...

Zombie Invasion: we be ready
Yep, they're scary allright, so wouldn't you want to be ready for a zombie invasion? I'm bookmarking the Zombie Preparedness initiative, so I can "keep my head and remove theirs."

Halloween 2: No one is safe, including lame ad campaigns
Fact #1: 99.9% of online ads suck. Especially the ones with people dancing because they saved money on car insurance or mortgage rates.
Fact #2: The Halloween movies rock. Especially the upcoming remake directed by Rob Zombie coming out this week.
Now mesh those two facts, and you have the latest campaign for Halloween 2, where the killer kidnaps the annoying people from the lame ads.
The "hot date" ad is actually a bit scary....

NBCNewYork.com Ad Campaign
I'm not sure I should find these so amusing, but all the characters are spot on. And Ted, in the third clip is just great.

Shocker: Most tweets are rubbish
This Pear Analytics study on e-marketer indicates a full 40% of tweets worldwide can be classified in the ‘I am eating a sandwich now’ category of pointless babble. A couple of points:
- As a microblogging tool, you'd intuitively expect a fair amount of tweets to only be of interest to the person twittering and her/his followers. Celebrities like Demi Moore's boyfriend will pull in more punters than the local butcher, but setting aside celebrity-obsession and voyeuristic tendencies, who cares that @joeschmuck hates being stuck in traffic/got out early of work/fancies Sarah Palin...
- Pear Analytics’ news category excluded news about technology and social media, which probably significantly skews the results considering Twitter's heavy slant toward tech/social media early adopters. In fact, I've had great results using twitter as a PR platform to reach out and build connections with these early adopters.

Graffiti Taxonomy: Fondation Cartier
The Fondation Cartier has some great Flash work around their Born in The Street show. You can compare how particular letters are treated by different Parisian graffiti artists. Click on a letter and you can review them side-by-side and actually get pictures of the graffiti in situ.
There's some great stuff inside also.

The Harlem Shakes: Best NY Band
You've got to look closely at this video... They played this song at their Bowery Ballroom gig back in July and the crowd went wild.

Rhonda: 3D Drawing
I won't pretend I understand how Rhonda works, but it basically looks like a type of CAD program for drawing. The way you can swirl (sorry...) the drawing around is very cool. I'm sharpening my pencils...

The Mugs
Anyone lucky enough to have received Big Mac's Top Compile 2008 will recognize The Mugs from the track Could It Be. Stand out songs on their MySpace page include Woman open man and Asleep all day.
They're recording a new album, which should be good.

Jessica Lea Mayfield
She played a great show at The Bowery Ballroom a couple of months, opening for The Annuals.
It must be said that the bassist's behavior on stage is really quite distracting (he's her brother incidentally). She sounds so mellow and he's jumping around like he's playing in Judas Priest. Very odd...
